In Her Own Words
My goal in life is to one day become a Game Designer and create a game so great that the whole world knows about it.
I have taken courses at Mercer County Community College and learned my first programming language, Java. However, because I wanted to learn as much as possible, I taught myself a different programming language while in the Intro to Computer Science course. After continually watching hours of videos online and reading developer forums, I learned the basics of creating my own game. Once we presented our final projects to the class, I showed a game I made, and everyone loved it! I even got a 100 on my final project grade. However, I didn't want my journey to stop there, so I created networks with people, which eventually got me in contact with a Game Designer. I was able to get all my questions answered, and my dream of becoming a full-time Game Developer increased.
In my free time, I teach myself how to draw, and plan on incorporating my artistic talents into my games. Now I am taking Computer Science courses and working to make my dream a reality. I am very thankful for all of the people that have come into my life and the connections I've made through my high school years. Through my involvement, I was able to express my creativity in many different ways, one of those ways was through the Volunteer Club. I love volunteering. As a member of the volunteer club, 1 have taken part in various events in high school and plan on continuing community service projects in college. I understand the value of helping people because I grew up without many resources and had help from organizations and clubs I've been a part of. Now that I'm heading to college, I need financial support to make my dreams a reality. As the first generation in my family to go to college, I've worked hard to get where I am today. That's why I know this scholarship will help immensely and is why I'll continue to work hard even in college to make my parents proud.
