In 2017, Medha launched a new fundraiser - the Diwali Mela sari sale. With reuse and upcycling of garments becoming popular in the broader US market, we decided to solicit donations of saris from our community friends. Our friends responded with enthusiasm and soon we had a huge collection of new and gently used saris. We organized two sari exhibitions in 2017 and were amazed and gratified by the support of the community. We price these saris reasonably and they fly off the shelves in no time.

Our Diwali Mela sari sales were very successful in 2018 and 2019. The Pandemic made us pause in 2020 but we planning to be back with Diwali Mela in 2022.

A substantial portion of MedhaUSA’s funds are generated at our annual fundraiser. This is held typically in March and has gained tremendous popularity over the years . MedhaUSA is grateful for the community’s support and also welcomes sponsors for this event.

In 2020, constrained by the COVID pandemic and the cancellation of all our regular fundraising events, we introduced a new event called “Move with Medha”. Community members were invited to enjoy the outdoors and walk/run with us and participate in our open-air Zumba workout. As always, after a hard workout session, what is better than buying some freshly made delicacies like “Singara,” chicken roll, and “Mishti,” packed with extreme care and love to enjoy with your friends and family? In the summer of 2022, we meet again in Woodlot Park, NJ, and followed up the 5K event with food and music, accompanied by a full-on open-air band. Given the enthusiastic response from our community, this event is definitely a keeper.
